I think it was our neighbor up the (unpaved) street who turned us on to him. Stephen Fuentes, who had a low-rider Toyota w/all but the "YO" painted over on the tailgate. Always felt like you were being operated on by his stereo when you sat in it, which we thought was totally cool.
I wish THEE JUDGE was rolling deep in the O-A-K back then. If I remember correctly, my brother and I got these tapes from my grandma's neighbor Vince, who was like 16 at the time (I was 8ish?) and then was immediately arrested for hitting someone over the head with his skateboard while trying to steal the Jerry's Kids change jar at the local grocery store. Hard!
Yeah, I had a skateboard, too. But only a front porch as pavement. My brother & I did get caught shoplifting clip-on earrings once. He took the rap w/the mall police.
I like to think of a moment in the 80's when both of us might have been listening to Too Short at once: you in the east bay & me in west TX...
